What is Dedicated, Focused Search?

This type of search process is designed for a specific senior management position, a mission-critical position, or an extremely difficult search. We identify individuals who are the best fit for your organization and meet all the requirements of the position – we look for those candidates who we deem to be outstanding, not just those who are actively looking for a new position.

What is the process?

Following are the usual steps taken on a search assignment:

• We meet with the individuals who will have significant interaction with the successful candidate. These meetings allow us to gain a complete understanding of the environment in which your new employee will operate.

• With this information, we prepare a draft search specification that outlines our preliminary understanding of the position’s responsibilities and requirements. This specification (which is modified as we gain more knowledge of the position) becomes an important tool to acquaint prospective candidates and influential sources with the key characteristics of the position. In carefully reviewing this document with you, we further confirm that we understand all of the important issues involved in the search.

• These efforts provide us with a list of target organizations as well as the names of highly respected and qualified individuals.

• After extensive telephone screening, we arrange personal interviews with a number of potential candidates. By determining their level of interest and learning relevant background information about them, we can render our opinion on the personal compatibility of the individual to your organization.

• We submit a detailed written report on each candidate whom we judge to be qualified. The candidate profile provides you with information about the individual’s character as well as technical qualifications. Preliminary reference checks, wherever possible, are included in this report.

• After reviewing our written report with you, we arrange for you to interview each candidate. Prior to those interviews, we thoroughly brief your candidates and provide them with as much information as possible on the company’s plans for the future, as well as current published material.

• Satisfied that you have selected the candidate who best fits the position, we compile comprehensive references. Presuming no unexpected difficulties arise, we then work closely with you to assist in the structuring of an offer calculated to attract our preferred candidate to your organization.

• Although the search process is complete at this point, we find it helpful to stay in touch with the newly hired employee during the transition period to provide assistance in making the adjustment to the new corporate environment. This dialogue has proven to be helpful in anticipating and often averting potential transitional problems.

• We will encourage the new employee and the employee’s supervisor to undergo our Starting Strong® process to speed the learning curve and more rapidly establish a trusting relationshp.
