About Our Client

Our client is a manufacturer and distributor of diesel engine parts and components for the international heavy duty diesel industry.

Position Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to provide manufacturing engineering support for assembly and test processes including new product introduction and driving improvement activities on quality, cost and delivery. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops processes and procedures for the assembly and production testing
  • Delivers process improvements to the assembly and test area utilizing industry standard tools and techniques including lean manufacturing, poke yoke and variation reduction methodology.
  • Assists in product change and new product introduction activities within designated areas.
  • Identifies, develops and implements capital equipment purchases and changes.
  • Develop workstation layouts in conjunction with line balancing techniques to improve efficiency, accommodate new tooling and products and improvements to work station TAKT times.
  • Provides high level troubleshooting support and training to technicians and operators.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and takes appropriate action on engineering releases.
  • Provides coaching and/or training to other team members.
  • Participates and may take a lead role in quality improvement work and completing associated team problem solving activities.
  • Actively reduce costs associated with production
  • Manages expense budgets with respect to tooling and project expense.
  • Performs other work as directed by Supervision.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • B.S. Engineering degree (ME or EE preferred) or compatible years of industrial experience.
  • CAD/CAE/CAM software (Inventor, SolidWorks, or ProE).
  • Six Sigma, 8-D and technical problem solving training and/or certification desired.
  • Understanding of QC documentation and APQP disciplines and requirements.
  • High energy level, ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events and react well under pressure.
  • Proven ability to make timely decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and communicate changes effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to lead and motivate others in a positive manner, including coaching others to follow work instructions, achieve standards and reach team goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and individuals of all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Team building ability, self motivation, able to work independently. Includes appropriate people in decision making process and supports/explains reasoning for decisions, resourceful and well organized.
